DashDAQ?
Greg has one, so pm him. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ml#post8427881

In my 86 I have pillar gauges, another pod on the dash and a couple more gauges mounted under the dash.
If I add up the prices for all of the gauges, pods and sensors, I have more in gauges than the Dash DAQ costs.
Looking at pillar mounts for my new to me 97, looks like about 350 for the mount and gauges for pyro, boost and tranny temp.
So far I think I like the DP Tuner F6 best as far as chips go, so that is another pod to mount it somewhere else and mount a couple more gauges like engine oil temp and fuel pressure.
Still left with nothing to monitor or clear codes, so more money for that.
Start adding everything up, is the DashDAQ really that expensive?
Not from what I have found so far.
How I originally found this was looking at Banks IQ.
Again a touch screen and expensive.
I don't think I like what Banks offers for tunes, so wasted money there.
After a call, it don't work with trucks earlier than 2000 if I remember right with the CAN compliant OBD2.
With a little research, you can monitor external sensors from Zietronics or Phidgets plus what you can get out of the OBD2 port with one gauge and two or three wires going to it.
I was just hoping someone had one on a 97 model to see what they thought of it and what they could read out of the 97 OBD2 port.
I know a Snap On scan tool can read everything I want to see and more, except EGT.
So far it looks like I get to be the guinea pig for the 97 model.
I think that you are correct when you put a pencil to what we have already spent on instrumentation v what this DashDAQ would cost. All though an "All in One" gauge is nice I personally like separate gauges as they all can be scanned in a heart beat rather than touching a screen or pushing a button for an individual or multiple reading while driving.
That being said, that is one of the main reasons that I chose to add the "Aeroforce Interceptor" to my collection (Good buy if I might add) as it is always hooked up while driving (Plus, it can be easily removed and added to another Ford vehicle) and is handier than the larger analyzing tools if a problem is suspected particularly on the road.
Without a doubt the DashDAQ is a nice instrument and would by itself get rid of a lot of "Clutter". I further think that the company could be contacted and they should be able to inform you exactly what this instrument can and cannot do when installed in a 1997 PSD. JMHO

And the list of things it can read is impressive.
But the sales CYA statement of "not all vehicles have the ability to display all of the parameters listed" did come up in the conversation.
If I remember right, in digital more it is capable of displaying 18 or 24 readings at once.
Check this video out at 1:31, 24 digital readings at once seperated into three groups of eight.
I can't even imagine running wires hooking up 24 gauges, never mind finding a place to put all of them.

I think I am talking myself into spending dollars here, am I doing a good job yet?

So if it turns out decent I will post some pictures and let you all know what it can do on a 97.
I downloaded and played with the skin creater where you lay out your gauges on the face.
As long as it reads everything I want to monitor, I think I will be happy.
