91 XLT, 460: I have a brake booster that is leaking (hissing sound), I know I need to replace it but it isn't that bad yet so it's on the list, along with a new front fuel pump which is noisy. Anyway, twice I've stalled once in a parking lot and real low speed, basically just rolling forward and again yesterday doing essentially the same thing trying to get onto the freeway (metered on ramp)
My question is this, do you think that the vacuum leak at the booster is enough to stall the engine? I recently got the truck and after changing out the factory ford u-joints, I suspect I've also got orig wires and it looks like I need a new filter as well. Could it be the wires maybe?
Yeah, could be. Vacuum leaks are never good. You're sucking more air into the engine than the computer expects to be in there, on older non-computer cars it can just lean out the mixture and make it run rough. On computer controlled cars, vacuum leaks can cause all sorts of havoc.
