Need help with relay
2000 Excursion 4X4, V10, limited.
In the engine compartment there are 2 small relay boxes right along the side of the master brake cylinder on the fender side. The first one is almost touching the power brake booster and the second one is right in front of it. The second relay box is clicking constantly even after I shut off the truck. Do you know if this relay is associated with the 4X4 system? Will it cause the 4X4 dash indicator to not light up when I try to engage into 4HI? I cannot find any reference anywhere as to what this is associated with. Can anyone help me with this?

Not sure about the relay, but it may be related.
The usual suspect if the 4x4 light does not come on is the failure of the transfer case shift motor. Very common for these trucks. I had mine replaced and less than a year later it failed again. Luckily there was a year warranty. It is very easy to check if it's operational. Remove the shift motor from the back of the transfer case (two bolts, IIRC) and have some one cycle the switch on the dash to see if the motor arm is moving.
Like I said, the relay that is acting up may or may not be related to the shift motor, but definitely check under the truck to see if that is that is the cause of your dash light.
