Hello All,
I will be needing new tires in the not too distant future and am thinkning about going to a little bit different size. Does anyone run the 235/80-17 size? There are a hair taller but over an inch narrower, will this help with fuel economy a little? What are your thoughts on running that size in an 02' EB?
I would doubt it's gonna help mpg's,as far as i know that size will only come in like a 10 ply LT E range tire, not a P rated that come stock, meaning it is a much heavier tire. Also,a load E tire is probably a little overkill for an expy unless you tow alot.
My brother has that size on his superduty and while i am a fan of skinny tires,it's real skinny,i don't know how good it would look on an exp. JMO.
Do not go with that size the truck will not handle correctly. With a tire that narrow roll over can become a real factor in an emergency manuver. You might not even notice a difference in your mpgs and it will ride like crap!
I recently put tires on mine as well and i ended up going stock size with goodyear AT/S,they were reasonably priced and i'm very happy with them however if you want to go a hair skinnier a 255/75/17 would be good and they seemed to be cheaper than stock size when i was looking,i very nearly went with a set myself.
