OK guys got a 96 F250 7.3 4x4 mostly stock. I am going to put brakes on the rear of my truck. Does anyone have a tutorial or a "paint by the pictures" digaram on how to do this. I've replaced brakes years ago when I was younger but there's been a lot of beer acoss the bartop now. but when I checked on how much folks wanted to do the job, I almost had a heart attack, again, so I'm going to do this myself. I know you can take one side off and use the other for a guide, but just wondering if anyone had any advice or anything.
I found some 3x12 bendix shoes on ebay for 39.00, what do you guys think?
I just picked up a set of shoes for mine and the pins were on the wrong shoes and pointing the wrong way. Could explain why my shoes were put on bassackwards by a well known brake shop here last time too. That ruined my drums and one of the hubs when it all fell apart.
Just remember short shoe in front, long in back. There is an extra piece of metal on the top side of the shoe steel part. It goes toward you when you are sitting there looking at it. You can get it together wrong but it sure won't last long or work right.
Put some antiseize on the backing plate pads where the shoes rub too.
