The 4R100 requires Mercon fluid, not F. I believe type F has not been recommended for Ford trannies built since '87 or so....
Mercon is obsolete now, so Mercon V is the commonly recommended replacement. http://www.aa1car.com/library/ford_tsb_06144.pdf
Some debate whether Mercon V is as ideal as Mercon, but it's what is commonly recommended.
I'm not familiar with type E. Is this possibly referring to Dexron IIE or Chrysler 7176E fluids?
Read the bottle. If it explicitly says it meets Mercon, you should be OK.
