Yeah, Ford built jet engines. See all those BUFFs flying around dropping bombs? The B-52's. They were originally equipped with engines built by Ford in Chicago, Il. I know 'cuz my dad was an engineer there. I have a cigarette lighter on my shelf that looks like a jet engine. Flip open the intake, and there is a Zippo.
The plant was in Cicero, the same one that Tucker had for a while, and the same one that Dodge used in the 2nd world war to build engines for the B29, I think.
So, there is some history of Ford Built Jet engines.

I once saw a turbocharger/jet powered go-cart listed on ebay! I'd post the link, but it's no good any more.
Jet's are also called 'gas turbines'. Besides avaition, they can be used to power ships and industrial power plants. They have even been used in railroad locomotives.
If you look closely at my avatar, that's a General Electric gas turbine sitting next to my truck. 70,000 horsepower. (no I did not add too many zero's) So I would not be stretching the truth to say my truck is next to 70,000 horsepower, LOL!
