i have a 2002 f-150 4x4 x cab.manual 5 speed,manual 4 wheel drive selector on floor.the sound it makes is like when in 4 wheel drive,a humming sound,the selector is in 2 wheel high.i made tight turn in 2 high to see if it surges like in 4 high,it does'nt.when i make a slight right hand turn the noise/vibration dissappears then starts back up when straightning wheel.it is the same pitch of noise at 10 mph or 50 mph.the truck has around 88k miles,good tires,good alignment.thanks

But, from your description, you might need to check the fluid in your rear diff and add some friction addititive.....
