I have a 2005 F350 SD 6,0. Blew the turbocharger and need to replace it. Ėts partnumber is 1854593C91. Is there an upgraded turbo to replace it with or do I go with the same? I am not going for performance, just economy and low price.

The less expensive option is to get a used turbo from a salvage yard. Only problem, you do not know what you have.
Then to reduce failure risk, again, it would be prudent to have a diesel tech check and refresh it before you install it.
Next option is to get a reman from Ford.
Then you can go to the aftermarket to get a reman or an upgraded turbo to increase performance.
I will be getting a new one, I just wondered about if there is an upgraded that will fit. Found one at Frontier truck parts. They are extremely expensive in Sweden....
Id ask Clay at Riff-Raff or Mark at MKO power either of those guys can hook you up... Industrial injection will rebuild your stocker... Do a search for Cartmanea he has an 03-04 turbo for sale fairly well priced
I just wanted to let you all know I purchased a new turbo from Frontier Truckparts Frontier Used Truck Parts: Engines, Cabs, Repairables, Heavy Trucks and I am very happy with the price, service and time of dleivery. I am very impressed and would like to recommend them. Now all I need is some time to replace it...

Server is sucking this morning....How much did you pay? Went to their site to check out the VT365 Garretts...they look like crap. What condition was it in when you received it? The pics on their site were of old blue spray painted ones...weird way to sell turbos...
I paid 1000 $US plus shipping and tax. It didnt look anything like the pics, I agree, strange to have such crappy pics. It looks great, itrs absolutely brand new.
All in all I got for half price compared to an exchange turbo in Sweden. And I got the old one, maybe it can be fixed and sold....

Wow...all for $1,000 and you got to keep the core. Good deal.
Hello Revolverivar I have a 2003 6.0l and was wondering what were your symptons that your turbo was bad? I have issue going up hills it cuts out and shoots out black smoke for a bit and sucks in air. It does not do it all of the time. And sometimes on the freeway at 65mph it does it as well. Some say EGR valve and some say turbo. When it does it on the freeway after it's done I have no reponse if I gun it. Any input would be great to help me narrow it down.

I am sorry but I have no idea whats wrong with your truck. It seems there is a lot of stuff that can go wrong on these things.
My turbo just went poff and stopped loading at all. My engingeoil is now in the exhaust so I am guessing a seal is broken.
I am sure someone on the list knows better, there is some pretty skilled mechanics on the list. Hope you get it sorted!
