i forgot to mention this is ont a 1979 f250 with a 351m
Spraying fuel out of the gasket between the carb and the spacer? Did you tighten the carb down? Did you get the right spacer and gasket? Maybe the floats are stuck? I bolted that same combo on my 400 and it was great right out of the box. Got better with a little tuning. My spacer wasn't 2" though it was 2 thick gaskets to keep the carb cool.
typically white smoke means your burning water, sounds like you have a major vacuum leak at the base of the carb where it is spraying out of the spacer (didn't even know that was possible) and you may have a leak on the intake seals. Pull them both off and reinstall with new seals. Be certain you have the carb hooked up on the correct vacuum port regarding dist advance.
i also noticed i have the brake booster line runnin to a t connector that runs down the back of the engien somewhere and the t fittin is screwed into my intake manifold is that wrong?
The T fitting is the manifold vacuum tree... I am fairly certain that is right but cannot be sure, I would think the line going to the brake booster is larger than the fittings on the tree.
well i have the same problem with running rich but i have a 302. i'm going to see how mine works after the engine rebuild with a little more cam, heads & better exhaust. i got my brake vac line running from the intake only not the T
well the spacer was new the carb used. as for adjustment i had all the adjustment screwes turned all the way down and it still ran WAY to rich and shot bout half gallon of gas out the top of the carb vents. turned out the carb was toasted like a lucky strike. my friend had a brand new holley double pumper he didnt want layin in a boxi threw that on and the engien ran like a champion aside from a bit of choppy idle and ABNORMALY low gas mileage even for a double pump its runnin like a savage. i think now i jsut need to tune the carb and ill be fine. 4 bbls with vaccume secondarys are the best investment i put in yet. the truck woke rup up my power gain is PHENOMINAL pickup speed is doubled or tripled and top end AND low end power is through the roof. funny how one decently price mod can completely improve your vehical all the way around. next thing i wana do is get a front drive shaft does anyone on this forum have a driveshaft that will fit a 79 f250 lifted 4 inches? (if im askin this in the wrong place i apologize im really not too good with computer and forum stuff)
