I've got my 66 F250 4X4. Cab was in poor shape. Was able to get an excellent 64 cab for almost nothing. See any issue swapping cabs? Also does anyone have any ideas how to add power steering to a 66 4X4? Would a ram assist be easiest?
The cab will have a couple conflicts. The steering column comes thru the floor in the 64 and in the 66 it comes thru the firewall, also the front mounts are different which I am sure you could modify both but know that it is not a straight over swap.
I believe the 66 4X4 uses the same cab as 61-64, so you should be good to go there. As for power steering for that model, I don't think there is much help.
There are others here that are much betters with 4wd than I.
Only difference in 64 and 66 F250 four wheel drive cabs are the kick panels. The drivers side is oval old pull type and passenger is triangular new type. And a different heater box to accomidate the old firewall and newer kick panel. You will need an old type 61 to 64 heater box.
The older cabs are a direct bolt on for 66 F250 four wheel drives.
For power steering persons have done a 80s toyota 4x4 box conversion. Ram assist in ford trucks was crap then and is still crap.
Ok well I have it down to a bare frame. What if I got a matched front and rear axel from a late 70's ford with power steering. And swap it that way. I can imagine lots of fabrication work. Anyone else do that?
