its leaking right where the high pressure line meets the pump and im curious if anyone could give me any insight into which is the culprit line or pump before i start throwing money at parts
There is an o-ring that seals the fitting to the pump, and another o-ring or compression fitting, depending on model year, on the high pressure hose. If it is the o-ring(s) leaking, just replace the o-rings. If it's the compression fitting, you may need to replace the high pressure hose. What year truck are you working on?
I've dealt with this before - the high pressure line goes into a fitting that then goes into the pump. The line into it's fitting never gets tight, it has a way of sealing it's self. Problem is, it is prone to leaking. Get you a new line at Autozone or somewhere, around $25 and 30 minutes to replace once you figure out how to get it lose on the gearbox.
now that i have pics this at least whats leaking will clear up its where the big nut meets the pump although the line going into the small nut is loose but it doesnt leak
There's an o-ring between the big nut and the pump/reservoir that should be replaced if the fluid is coming from behind the big hex fitting. A new hose will not fix a leak in this location.
