I found this on fordpowerstrokeforums.com. Anyone hear of the "leaking" fuel issue?
"All you need is regular oil that is the correct weight for your diesel. When i left Ford, they were advising to use the 10W-30 oils, not the 15W-40 oils, in the 6.0 diesel. They even told me that 10W-30 was the factory fill.
Also what the Ford hotline and a few instructors at the school told me was this: Change the oil and filter in the 6.0 at 3K intervals. Reason being, the 6.0 bleeds a small amount of fuel into the oiling system. This is a International Harvester design flaw that can NOT be fixed. That fuel whipped up in the oil has a nasty habit of gumming up the turbo vanes. They highly recommend getting that goo out of the oil at 3K before it can do any damage."
Sounds like Bovine Excrement to me. I've never seen a recommendation of anything other than 15W-40, except for extremely cold weather operation. Although I believe there is a TSB saying 5W-40 synthetic is OK.
Fuel bleeding into the oil? Not according to my oil analysis, done at 5000 miles. Diesel fuel doesn't turn into goo. And how does it get into the turbo vanes?

Then judging by this article Navistar never built mine right from the start. Blackstones reports show .5% fuel dilution every 5,000 miles, thats about 3 oz. of fuel in 18 quarts of oil.
ok so Ill add to this...
.5% in the fuel I would call normal. you well have some blowby in the rings at 24,000 psi of fuel pressure its just gonna happen.
so far as 10w30 being the factory fill this is indeed the truth. the orig. oil from ford was a cj-grade (compression based blend) 10w30 oil. this is not really knowen by most people.
now about the fuel turning to gooo? well not to sure on that one.

cheezit.......WOW! Is it really 24,000 PSI fuel pressure?
It can be in excess of 27,000 psi. Apprx 4000 psi from the HPOP and a 7:1 intensifier piston in each injector.
yup anbd mark has the correct awnser. a good pump will produce a min of 3500psi deadhead and up to 4k. most of the ones I have deadheaded put out at 3800psi.
so to calculate your fuel pressure is going to be 7.1 x icp pressure. and that is what is comming out at the end of the nozzel
