first off i picked up a set of ford racing headers (shortys) i got them cheap i want to pu them on will i see any gain from them, also went down to a garage and was told i cant put true duals because of th fact i have 3 sensors on my exhaust is there a way around this, any recomendations, looking to get a little more power dont this is too much for sound, im also gonna get all msd ignition parts, again im looking for a little more power,
There's no need to run true duals. You could pick up power by going with a single 3" pipe. You could have them fab a Y-pipe with 3 oxygen senor bungs. Weld in a single 3" cat with an air injection fitting. Run to a 3" muffler, and then split off into dual if you want. I couldn't tell you how much that would cost, or if it would throw any codes though.
You have a '96?
BTW, MSD ignition stuff isn't going to net you much. OEM Motorcraft parts will do just fine.
^ Yeah your coil should be fine. A fresh cap & rotor along with new plugs from Motorcraft would fit the bill. I run FRPP 9MM plug wires on my car, but Motorcrafts work fine too. Don't forget to change the air and fuel filters and clean out the throttle body while your at it.
Do you have a 5.0 or 5.8?
I looking into to doing what I described in my first post to my '96 this summer. I will have to see what kinda' price tag were are looing at first. 3" or 2.5" single exhaust into a Magnaflow with dual 2.25" tailpipes.
I recommend keeping a single exhaust too and going with 3 inch back to the muffler and then 3 inch out or get a dual out straight through muffler or glasspack.
yeah its a 5.0, thanks for your responses and help
Bassini and Magnaflow make Y pipes with and without cats for these truck that will bolt up to those headers and you can put whatever you like behind it. The Ford headers will already have O2 bungs in them and so will the Y pipe if you select the right one.
