I don't know how you'd do that, they don't even have a separate frame.
Every Crown Vic Ford ever made is body on frame. Whether it's the current Crown Vic, which dates back to 1979, or the 1955/56 Ford Fairlane Crown Vic's.
The current Crown Vic is the same as 1979/81 LTD, 1979/2009 Mercury Grand Marquis and 1980/2009 Lincoln Town Car.
Ford changed the name from LTD in 1982 to Crown Victoria.
Wow, ok. My friend has a Mercury Marauder, I would have thought I'd looked at it enough to know that.
Ya you learn something new everyday! The search function works well on the site tones of great info all you have to do is be creative and dig. All these guys on here teach me new stuff everyday. I saw a post on here of a guys doing it but can't seem to find it now but it is here, I remembered it cause I thought it was a pretty cool swap.
Where is it located? People are always looking for parts. Could always part it out or seel the whole thing as a parts truck. I myself would be interested depending on location.
Layne,
I get the impression that your Uncle isn't in a big hurry to move it or sell it. From the picture it doesn't have trees growing through it or half buried in the ground already. So, maybe you should consider trying to make a deal with your Uncle (DOES HE HAVE THE OWNERSHIP PAPERWORK FOR IT?) with the understanding that you'd store it there "for a while" (since you don't have storage space and it would cost you to move it).
Then once the deal was done, go out there soon (before the bees wake up and/or move in) and jack it up, throw some 2x12s down, then some blocks or a stack of car rims or whatever under it to support & stabilize it and GET IT OFF THE GROUND, say 2ft. This will allow some air to flow under it & keep it from continuing to rot into the dirt. Then when the grass starts to grow in a couple of weeks, stop over with a sprayer and spray some plant killer under & around it, this will prevent the weeds/grass from growing up under it. Once it's up in the air where you can get under it to get a good look at things, then you can determine the condition of the underside and what's there and what isn't........ Then you can either pick/sell parts off of it or determine if it is solid enough for a newer chassis - maybe not a project for you, but maybe someone else would buy it from you with the intention of doing that.
If you can make the deal for say, $100, with the two engines, you can't go wrong - 'cause it's worth more than $100 just for junk metal as it sits. Personally, I'd try to either part it out (you've already got folks here wanting to buy parts off of it!) or once your current projects are done, you could tackle it......
Bottomline: Buy it for $100 or less, try to store it right where it is, and get it up & off the ground ASAP.
I have 4 BMW's, an MG, a ford truck, an old tractor, an old house, and who knows what else that I can't even remember. I think the rest of my life is booked.
I assume nothing will ever be done with the truck, but I will take my high lift jack up there next time and throw some cross ties under it for the sake of future generations. I doubt there's any paperwork for it.
I have always wondered how the hell these things happen. I don't know how many pictures of cars and trucks out in fields I have seen just like this one. What was the person thinking? Oh, I think I'll just drive off into the sunset and see how far I get and they get only 200 yards...

It has always bugged me too!! We had friends back home, would drive it till it dies then just leave it sit,,,, WTF?!?! Had a tractor in the field, we just plowed/disced/combined around it for him, he would leave it as it was,, 6" of papers on the dash, and all, just one of those things I could never grasp,,,, now where I live, there is 2 houses kinda close, they have to be related, TONS of crap all around, must be 5 or 6 cars, newer ones, haven't moved, and I think a couple have been added since I have been there,,, IDK? That mentality has always blown me away,,, "all it needs is a ------" probably $100 bucks or so and they just let it rot away,,
Living in Arkansas I see a lot of this.
When I was looking for a tailgate, my wife told me of somebody that had a truck sitting in a field. When we went to look at it, it looked as though he'd driven into the field, sunk the truck up to the axles and left it there...in about '70.
Got a guy who lives down the highway from me who has about 6 or 7 old Ford 4x4's(bumps, dents and later, no slicks)sitting in a field full of goats.
Then there's the guys who say, "Nah, I'm gonna do something with that one of these days...".
