got a new pair of speakers for the rear of the cab, pulled of the plastic, what do ya know there it is a nice 5x7 hole cut out, little screw holes, the wiring for a speaker to be installed, even the female plug clipped in and ready to go, one problem the wires are dead, hook up the speaker no sound, anyone know why? does the factory run wires for the fun of it? is there a trick to turn the wires on? why would they do all the prep work for a speakere and not hook up the wires to the stereo ?? any help please
Sorry, I am not rubbing it in. I got distracted and didn't finish my thought. The wiring harness for the superduty was probably standardized and the wire is in the rear doors ro the nav/sound system. If the nav wasn't put in the truck the wiring just wasn't used. The speaker wires are probably terminated behind the dash as well as in the door.
I don't know you're truck, however it looks like you have a XL package? I think the XL have a standard AM/FM stereo with maybe a CD? If so, the wires probably run to your radio, however there is no female recepticle in your radio for the speakers to plug into. If you have a XLT or a upgraded radio the the speaker wire would have been plugged in. XLT's have speakers behind the door on Reg Cab's and speakers in the back doors on Super's and Crews. I would guess you have a XL with no CD player?
Just my guess and opinion not knowing your truck? I would get a new radio aftermarket or Factory (look on Craigslist). I found a 6-Disk Factory Radio on Graigslist for $80.00.
Well if your truck is anything like the Crown Victorias are then all the wiring is there it just needs to be hooked up to the back of the radio. The cop cars come with a front speaker delete (just like your rear) and all the wiring is there but it is not actually hooked up the the back of the radio. The Crown Vics actually stop the wiring at the door jams for the front doors. You may just need to trace the wiring from the back to the front.
David I think you are dead on, am fm no cd, ive been buggin this guy on craigslist for ever about a 08 stock am fm w/ cd do you guys think that will come with the female for the speakers on the stereo, ... thanks for all the help ... except you 2X6 4 u i got a
Just for kicks, make sure you at least check the "fade" settings on your radio if you can find it.
If you don't care what it sounds like you could just splice the connection with the front speakers somewhere too.
If you get the factory radio with the 6 CD changer in it, it actually sounds very good with upgraded speakers. I added my own sub and it does the job for not a lot of $$$.
First Question - the factory 6-Disk CD should have the female plug. As far as speakers, I picked up some at Best buy for $120.00 for 4 5x7"s. They sound Great for the size. I just installed them in my 2010 F350 with less than 29 miles on the truck. The factory speakers are paper cones and will distort. Get a 2-way 5x7 with a rubber cone. You don't have to buy a expensive set to get a good sounding system.

thats the kind of info I was looking for. Thank you! I will look around, I was mainly wondering if they were 5x7 or 6x9. I will do some looking. I am looking at where the best places for some subs would be. Under the back seats? I would like to hook my amps up to an upfitter so my dad can listen to his Jazz and I can kick them on and have some thumping.
I ended up going to wally world and pickin a pioneer headunit up for 80 bucks, kenwood speakers, even got the spiffy little dash kit to make it look all dialed in
I have the stock Lariet CD/Radio and have the "Fade" settings in the menu of it. I wonder if it is connected and just need speakers in rear door of my CC.
Was it easy to get the rear door panels off? I'll check and see if they have the connection hooked up.
Question for F150 audiophiles: My 2007 Lariat has the premium system with satellite and everything is working great except the subwoofer under the back seat (crewcab). I checked the power to the factory amp-it is good. I plugged the speaker into another source-good.
I get no sound from the sub box still, is there a s-e-c-r-e-t way to turn the sub on or off? I searched the ford owner's manual and ALLDATA cd, but no mention is made. I want to get a lifeline before I call the dealer and give up my credibility asking a dumb question. Thanks brothers!!!
