Racor ByPass System
#31
I spent about 2 months researching the Racor system.
Basically you can buy all oil guard parts and have the same thing just cheaper.
It's a multi stage filter.
This is the setup i came up with for the best bypass without buying something like the amsoil one which.. is a 2 filter setup.
I wanted 2 things when I researched this.
Increased oil capacity and powerful filtration in 1 filter.
So this has a staged filter going from bigger to smaller.
I forgot the final micron count, but using the picture that TJBeggs supplied is the easiest way to hook it up.
One dumps back into the pan and the other takes off the oil cooler.
this should have a 10-15% flow bypass.

I have looked a several mounting setup instructions for bypass oil filter systems... I have noticed several using jic connections and hydraulic built hoses., Is there a need for that? Can't I just use a good piece of fuel/oil line and hose connectors? The pressure in the system isn't all that high is it. What is your thoughts?

They are goign to be less likely to leak and handle the vibration over time better.
you could do it with oil rated line and hose clamps, but i'd do it right. but thats just me.

Used to be 7$ now they are 30-45.... likely will be obsolete in the near future.
I could not find a cross but I do not think it would be hard to use a different bypass filter by different manufacturer that has the same dimensions....
