i have a clean 1995 F150 that i am tryin to sell for $2500 but every time someone looks and drives it they say it has to many miles on it. it has 241K miles on its original engine and tranny and everything else. runs great dunno why anybody else would not love it
I think you should trash it. I'll even do you a favor and take it off your hands for you so you don't have to throw it away yourself ;-)
I hate selling cars, so many tire kickers looking to low ball you. I usually end up selling cars to friends for cheap instead of the hassle of showing it to a bunch of people and haggling.
I don't know mine has 275k on it and I have done a lot of work on it. It looks almost like new. I get compliments all the time. I haven't tried to sell it though. If its in really nice shape I think the price is reasonable.
honestly these trucks were made to last PERIOD 241k is low compared to the 3-400k i have seen out of my buddies f150 i have 210k on mine and it runs great. Milage on these trucks is pretty much just telling you how far it has traveled. You could just tell them you had the engine rebuilt 100k ago LOL
Looks like a really nice truck, but IMO (which aint worth much since I live in a totally different area and country then you) its priced to high, for that many miles on it.
These trucks, although I love em, are a dime a dozen right now.
i pick up almost the same truck but it had 124k miles on it for a 1000 not one hint of rust on it either. keep trying to sell it maybe drop the price but always leave room for the low ballers but them trucks can run almost forever
tried craigs list but with no luck ive got an ad in the paper and its sittin up at the road with a for sale sign on it the only reason im selling it is i dont have a use for it any more
ya 2500 seems like alot. I def would not pay that. I would try 1500. To put it in perspective I bought my 1992 F150 4x4 156xxx miles v8 "Good" condition for 2500. But what do I know
The prospective buyer would (obviously) know the mileage before he ever left his house to see your truck. So the actual miles on the clock isn't the issue. Maybe those miles really show as wear on the truck (don't know, I haven't seen it...) and that's just their way of saying "no thanks".
It sucks to sell a used vehicle these days. Unless the thing (any vehicle) is somehow unusual, rare, mint, ridiculously low miles, etc, then heed what preppypyro said: "these trucks are a dime a dozen". Think of the retail market for your truck; your competition; desirability, etc. What are similar trucks selling for on CL or ebay? And consider your buyer: why would he buy a truck like this - this "old"? Your price doesn't seem out of bounds, but are there cheaper, similar trucks around?
That said, I paid too much for mine. I know that I'm keeping it for a secondary vehicle for a long time, so any $ I put into it will come back to me. Finding a truck like this in relatively good condition, and keeping it in good condition, will add value to it.
I bought my 95 4x2 f150 SC XLT with a 300 5 speed for $1500 almost 2 years ago. It had 190k, no rust or major mechanical issues, and very clean. I would have paid the asking price of $1900 but the dealer (wholesale) dropped the price when he realized that I was serious while looking it over. This particular truck had almost everything that I wanted and so far it has been a excellent truck and I have no doubt that it will last another 75k-100k miles. This series of trucks are plentiful, but clean examples are becoming harder to find, in New England.
Your truck looks clean but high miles really hurt the price. The right buyer who is looking for a 92-96 will know the strong points and will pay more than a casual buyer just looking for a truck.
IMHO the newer generation (97+) trucks aren't aging well and seem more expensive to repair.
