Easter Eggs

Google turned ten Easter Eggs sites. This one (www.eeggs.com) has over 6000 easter eggs. Here is something they had to say about Word 97

There are a bunch of fun things you can do with the Thesaurus in Word 97, but I want to make it clear that these are NOT EGGS because they follow the expected behavior of the program. I will demonstrate:
1. In a document, type "I'd like to see you naked".
2. Highlight the phrase and select Tools->Thesaurus (or type shift-F7)
3. It will suggest the phrase "I'll drink to that" as a synonym.
4. You'll get the same answer for things like "I'd like to see Bill Clinton resign", "I'd like to see Bill Gates dead", or any phrase starting with "I'd like to..."

That's because this is EXPECTED BEHAVIOR.. if the thesaurus doesn't know an actual synonym, it shows you the closest alphabetical phrase it knows about. It might be weird, it might be funny, but it's not something the programmers hid inside the program.
Another common phrase to do this with is "unable to follow directions".

This works in Windows XP (home or pro)

Ok, there is a secret file in Windows XP called "quotes". In order to get there you must be somewhat familiar with how to use Windows, simply open up My Computer (explorer) and double click on your main drive (probably C next navigate to: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC This is where the quotes file is. Open the file named quotes in your favorite text editor (notepad, MS Word, Emacs ) then look at the quotes put there by the MS developers!

Easter Eggs

The only trouble with easter eggs is they waste space - but are fun none the less!

I always liked this one:

Excel 97 Flight to Credits

Requires: Microsoft Excel 97

Easter Egg:
1. On a new Worksheet, Press F5
2. Type X97:L97 and hit enter
3. Press the tab key
4. Hold Ctrl-Shift
5. Click on the Chart Wizard toolbar button
6. Use mouse to fly around - Right button forward/ Left button reverse
