There is no electronic shifter on either the 4R100 or the TorqShift. Both have mechanical drive or reverse engagements. He has a 4R100.
There is something mechanical broken. There is nothing electronic that will keep it from engaging reverse.
I might be confused, but when I was researching my truck (2001 F350 4spd) before I bought it. I remember reading an article/review(I think Edmunds) that referred to my transmission as being "electronically controlled", now I took that to mean that there is some type of computerized shift control in at least forward drive gears, also I think not to long ago I was reading a FTE post and it was saying that the transmission system/CPU has the ability to learn driving habits. Please correct me if I am mistaken,Mark K.
