Question Am I missing something here?....

I just installed a new water pump cause the old one was leaking. the truck is running fine now and temps are doing fine but I still have a small leak. I am wondering if I missed a bolt on the top as that is where it seems to be seeping out. Otherwse did I just not use enough sealant?...

Appreciate any help....

I believe I missed a bolt also but can anyone tell me which hole should have a bolt I am thinking it is either the indent one where the coolant is coming out or the one above it?....

Don't know what you have buy if it isn't leaking i would say one of those might be for a power steering pump

Power steering is bolted up fine and the inlet hole where the coolant is coming out has a thread already in it from timing cover so my only guess would have to be the one above it but I don't think I had any bolts leftover. Does anyone have a closer pic of the front of their 351m or know where I can get a bolt kit....

Yes the recessed one needs a bolt and the threaded 2 on top are probably for an A/C bracket.

Maybe im wrong I will check again but the recessed hole I believe has the other end of a stud from the timing cover in it or are those 3 lower and does anyone know the size of that bolt?...

Appreciate all the help so far...

There needs to be a bolt there. There could be a broken bolt there making you think its a stud. Its common for the bolts to break on the water pumps.

I just went out and stuck a allen wrench in that hole and there is a thread in there. As I recall when I had the pump off on the outer part of the timing cover there was 3 bolt treads sticking out and went into those recessed holes in pump. Is that correct I can't believe I would have 3 broken bolts on the water pump....

When you say thread, are you talking about the fact that it looks like a stud? If you are, I can't account for the other two but the one hole you you showed a picture of fluid coming out DEFINITLY has a bolt. If your saying that one looked like a stud, and there are also two others, I would presume that you had two others with the head snapped off the bolt.

In your pic...the hole with the fluid coming out is at 12 o'clock, there is also a hole at 3 o'clock right behind the power steering bracket (the opposite side of the bump in the water pump that the PS bracket threads into) that I dont see a bolt head on. Is that one of the three holes that you think may have a broken bolt? Cause I can tell you there should be a BOLT there as well but I dont see one.

Well after reading a few other ford posts it looks like I got 3 broken water pump bolts I had no clue about lol guess it is pretty common on these fords damn. Well I guess I will tear it back apart this weekend and redo with new bolts. Will the timing cover need to come off to get the broken ones out if so I might do a new timing cover and chain set while im at it lol. Any place I can get the bolt kit for the pump can't seem to find anything on summit?.............

That should only have to come off if when you remove the water pump there isint enough thread showing to get a bite on it with vise grips to turn it out.

I broke off two the last time I changed my pump.
I just bought new grade 8 bolts the propper length from Home Depot.
