i'm having a tough time going lock to lock to the left side, but turns to the right side just fine. there's no noise, or rubbing or anything. just great resistance. however the tire on my right side is reaaalllyy low. when i turn to the right it turns fine , then almost at lock to lock it gets tough and feels like the tire just doesn't want to move anymore. but you give it some muscle and it'll turn lock to lock. this is while moving or while holding still. any ideas ?
i took a quick look as i was in line at whataburger. i quickly check everything connected to the tires and everything looked good. as far as i could tell. could it be just a deflated tire on the right, there33's with a 4 inch lift, maybe the inbalance could be causing the friction when turning opposite of the low tire ( up hill ) guess i should air it up once i get home and see if that does any good. in the mean time any other ideas would be appreciated. what are some things i should take a closer look at once i get home ? pictures or manuals or something would be great as i'm not to experienced with steering system. thanks.
Low air pressure will cause harder turning, try that first like you said, air up and get back with us, the guys that done work on their front ends will chime in for possibilities, bump.
Deffinately air up that tire. That can make a huge difference. Also at a stand still with your power steering being the boost for your brakes, if you are on your brakes at all this can cause harder steering. Not enough steering boost to power both brakes and steering until you get se movement and rpm. Also check you power steering fluid level.
air'd up the tired but ran outta air in the tank before i could finish. ( compressor is at my ranch) either way i was able to put about 10 pounds in and it did release some of the friction i was facing trying to turn. i'll have to get out there later today and get the compressor to fully tell. i have a leak in all 4 tires so there in pretty bad shape. i'll be getting 35"x12.5 toyo mud tires tomorow. finally i won't have to worry about airing up thhose darn things every other day.
