transmission question
What would cause the transmission in my 77 f150 to puke fluid from the breather near the tail shaft of transmission? Its a C4 tranny by the way.
It does not do it every time I drive but when it does it dumps lots of fluid.

Mine's doing the same thing but I'm not sure that it is a C4.

If it's a 4 speed manual, it's not a C4. It's either a NP435 or a T18. A C4 is a three speed automatic.
johnb3006, I agree with GIGGER that it is probably over full- or the vacuum diapragm unit is bad. At least that's what my '64-'71 Chilton manual says.
A leak out the breather in a manual usually means that the vent is clogged. At least that's what happens in rear axles.
