Axle Code D9?

I've been searching, but I can't find info on axle code D9. It's an 03 F350 4x4 SRW with the 5.4 engine.

Any help would be great.

If they have stayed with the same scheme of numbering the D= limited slip, 9=3.55 ratio. But I too cannot find a specific listing for D9.

Try the VIN decoder from Ford.........................https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

Oops! just ran mine trough and doesn't show axle info. I do know that the 9 is 3.55, D is LS. You can find axle code charts that show this but don't have a specific D9 listed.

Are you getting this from the door sticker? If so try reading off of the pumpkin.

Wow, they put 3.55s in a 5.4L? That think must be gutless.

Seems weird, especially on a F350.

They feel like 4.10's... Or something in that range. I'm going to craw under once the weather clears up.

3.73s vs. 4.10s won't make you break something...

Took a very quick peak at the tag and it said 4.27. 4.30 gears? Do they still use the "L" in the middle to indicate an LSD? i.e. 4 L 27? if so it looks like an open. I'll look more when I can. I'll see if I can get some pics too.
