Not really too relevant to our motors, but I had my driver front speaker starting to cut out on me so I picked up a pair of the cheap pioneer 6 x 8 replacement speakers for my front doors. I'm not a kid anymore and I don't keep the radio up too loud. I even spend a lot of time listening to AM radio, but let me tell you, these new speakers are WAY better than the factory ones. I don't know if the technology has improved, if Ford was just cheap, or if mine are just worn out, but there's a noticeable difference between front and rear now. I plan on changing the rear soon.
Just wanted to throw this out there for all the rest of you who might think your factory speakers are "good enough" There's still a few ranges on these that don't come in too clear (certain voices), but I have that problem face to face or over the phone, so I'm guessing that might be my ears and not the truck's fault. I think it's well worth the upgrade.
Chris, where did you get the new speakers at? I'm a bit like yourselve just want some crisp clean tunes without breaking the bank...I have considered Wal-mart?
I stopped by Autozone and they had some brand I'd never heard of that was made in China. I stopped by O'reillys and they didn't have any. I went to walmart and they had Pioneer that were made in Mexico. That was close enough without having to drive into the big city. I bought the cheapest 6 x 8 Pioneer speakers they had in stock, so I'd imagine upgrade over that would be as good or better.
I found a nice pair of 6.5" round speakers in my front doors. I think they are Pioneers also. They sound real good but I have some other audio enhancements though. I do like a good sounding stereo without breaking the bank.
how much loader are they, sounds like it could be something to looking in to.
Doubt the new ones are any louder than the old ones, considering the volume is controlled by how many watts the head unit is putting out, but, new speakers is definatley a worth while investment.
I upgraded speakers and head unit 5 years ago, and I could not believe the difference in clarity, AM, FM, CD, IPOD, SIRIUS, it doesnt matter, it all sounds better.
I bought some new Pioneer speakers for the rear at Best Buy, on sale, a few years ago. I still haven't put them in yet. My L/R would crackle once in a while. Chris, thanks for reminding me that I still need to do this someday.
Damnit....here you go again twisting my arm.I recon I will be making a trip to Walmart this week for new speakers...Glad they sound better and thanks for posting this.
