I've got a chance for a deal on a used auger and 3 different size bits to fit on my skidsteer. I was thinking my son could pick up a few dollars drilling holes for fences, decks, etc.
Anybody got any pros or cons for this type of work? Is the customer or the operator responsible for having underground services properly identified?
same rules apply here, contractor is responsible. The operator must have a set of locates in the machine, supervisor has a set, manager and one copy in the office.

Not sure if it is like that here in Alberta, lots of times we just get the home owner to call Alberta 1 call, they mark out the yard or property and you go from there.
Edit: Actually I know it isn't like that here, the property is marked and that is it. If we know we are coming back then we will map it out on the RPR, but generally we don't do that.
Have you thought about truck and trailer wear and tear to haul skidder around?
Liability insurance? What happens if he calls and has underground utilities marked but hits a septic or water line the owner didn't know about? What if he bumps into a house or somethign and breaks siding or such?
Is there really a market around you?
