The two piston caliper mount on the passenger side of my 77.5 F250 Dana 44 needs to be replaced does anyone know what other years will work ? I'll guess this part was obsoleted long ago.
Shouldn't be too hard to find. The high pinion 8 lug 44 uses the same caliper bracket as the high pinion 60. Probably the same as the low pinion axles too. So I'm thinking 76-79 Dana 60 and 8 lug 44 are all the same. Maybe someone else will confirm if the low pinion axles are in fact the same.
Thanks I should have included that in my description.
Why does it need replaced?
Well when I take it to work it's 168 miles round trip so when I was changing the oil the other day and generally looking her over that pass side caliper seemed to have bit too much slop this I think must the source of the noise I get particularly with the hubs locked at low speed without the brakes applied.

There is a lock bolt that retains the wedge. In addition to the wedge, theere is a flat spring to take up the clearance. Are both of those parts between the caliper and the caliper bracket?
I have had trouble with those springs with one of my trucks - when applying the brakes hard and moving backwards. The truck is used for plowing and heavily ballasted, ~1500#. It seems to wreck those springs in a hurry, so I made shims of the correct thickness to eliminate the slop..

Yep, Parts are however the lockbolt has sheared off. The bolt hole is larger than the replacement lockbolt that my Napa had in stock for the truck.
Yes both the wedge and the spring are in between and go in pretty tight.
You can drill and tap a hole in another spot if you have to and just grind a cut in the wedge that matches where the bolt head will lock the wedge.
It's not un-common for someone to fix a stripped hole on the caliper brackets by drilling and tapping the next size larger hole. You should be able to heli-coil it back to the original size........IF you can get the bolt out. If not, it should be an easy fix for a machine shop.

Actually, the wedge already has 2 notches in it. If all else fails.....drill another hole to match the second notch.
