I ave a E99 F350 7.3 4x4. I have a sqeaking/squeling noise coming from the crank pulley. Is this the oil pump that is there. I truck has oil pressure according to the dummy stock gauge. How hard is this to change out and do they wear out or am i going in the wrong direction. I was supposed to be going on a 400 mile trip tomorrow and now this the night before i leave. I just changed the Water Pump because i thought that was it but it wasn't. It's got a new alt, tens. pulleys, idler pulley, a/c compressor, and now a water pump. I checked the parts listed above but nothing squels. I'm at a loss. Please help me here. Thanks for the help ahead of time. i know you guys are awesome.
If the oil pump was dead, your truck wouldn't run. I'd start by taking the belt off and turning the crank with a breaker bar and socket to see if you can find the squeak.
Are you sure that it is not your power steering pump? Mine made alot of noise until I flushed it with Mobile1 synthetic ATF made a huge difference. Does the sound pitch change when steering or braking?
I don't think the oil pump is dead, but bushings wore out or something along those lines. (I don't know how these LP oil pumps work), I can hear the sound is, unfortunatley, in the center or the motor, this is why i changed out the water pump(it had a low pitched noise when i turned it by hand with the drive belt off. I guess i'll go out and take it off again and start it with no acessories running and see. I'll post back in a bit with an answer about the crankshaft pulley. This should tell me hopefully. What else to you guys think it could be, I know what it could be but i don't want to say it, Bearings. I hope not. Any more ideas guys, Thanks already.
