I am wondering as i have just purchased this truck and want to do maintaince on it the first i figured is the plugs i read somewhere they are under the cover with the 2 bolts and says intec 32 valve on it . it says to take the covers off and there you would see the coilpacks it says to carefully pull them out and there you will see the plugs is this true.. all i can find is horror stories of the ford 5.4 motors plugs getting stuck and how hard they are to get to.
the stories that you are reading are from 3 different 5.4L engiens. the ones that get stuck are 04-07 5.4L 3v. the ones that are hard to get are the 5.4L 2v. lincoln navigators have the 5.4L 4v. i am getting ready to change mine when the weather warms up. they don"t look to hard to change, but it does look like you need to remove a few things to make it easier to do.

Agreed! The 5.4 DOHC engines do not have the problems associated with the 4.6 and 5.4 SOHC engines. The plugs are not easy to change but the SOHCs are harder imo. I have had very good service from the Autolite copper plugs in my Mark VIII and I intend to use them in my Navigator. Some here disagree but I use what works best for me. Just buy a top quality Autolite or Motorcraft plug and you should be good to go for another 100,000 miles. Also, don't forget the anti-sieze on the threads. The COPs will likely give out before the plugs.
