So after I saw the fuel flavored fluid dripping out of the flywheel cover, I got a little suspicious and checked the valley behind the fuel bowl today after driving it for a bit. It had approximately 4-6 ozs of fuel in it again, and I sopped up what was there 2 days ago, so there is a leak there somewhere. Is it possible that what I thought was oil cake on the undercarriage is just diesel and sand mixed? I mean, the stuff is caked all underneath the truck from the oil pan to the spare tire hanger, I just don't see how it could have that bad of an oil leak and yet not drip when it is sitting in the driveway. And after calculating my MPG from my 600 mile trip over the weekend I got like 14 no load and 10-11 pulling 4k lbs.
Sounds like you found your leak. It's easy to misdiagnose a diesel leak for an oil leak if you're engine is half as dirty as mine is. The fuel picks up all the sludge and stuff on it's way down, then mix in whatever is blown up from the road and it looks like oil sludge.
