I would most likeyl be easiest/cheepest to use these (Wheel Adapters 5 Lug CJ Ram). Also, you might be able to take parts from the 8.8 axels in the explorers.
Why do you want to change? trying to fit some rims you have lying around?
I'm assuming those are aftermarket. I can't imagine a sportrac having 22's from the factory.
It all boils down to the time & money you want to spend. Using the adapter is going to make your truck's stance a little wider, since it has to space everything out a bit. If I remember correctly, this is supposed to be a bit harder on the wheel bearings.
I thought about doing the opposite mod to my explorer since I have all sorts of rims that fit the 5.5" truck pattern. So it would be easy to swap between my truck & explorer whenever needed.
Actually, the 22's will have so much backspacing....the spacers will not harm anything. In fact, you may have to space them out anyways. Similar to putting 05+ Mustang wheels on an 04 or older.....if you don't use a spacer, the wheels sit too far inside.
The Explorer is not gonna work. And I'm not sure you could not find the F-100 parts for less than the cost of the spacers.
