Hi all from a FTE !

I recently purchased a '78 F250 Custom 4x4 that I want to restore/customise. It's current drivetrain consists of a 351M, NP435 trans, non-divorced NP205 T-case, 44 front and 60 rear. I'm not quite sure of the gear ratio in the diffs. I've never been a fan of the "Modifieds" but it does run at the moment.

Up until last summer I was driving a '94 ranger with the plan of swapping in a 5.0. I picked one up from a friend out of an '88 Lincoln Town Car, including the harness. Unfortunately it's a MAP engine, but i plan on converting over to MAF. I already have $1200 worth of machine work done to it (block done, cyls .020 over, crank .010 over, new pistons, rings, gaskets, bottom end ballanced, etc.) and have decided to finish the build and drop it into the '78. Where I stopped is at getting a cam. Now I'm looking for a good roller cam for a truck application and am looking for suggestions.

I plan on refurbing a set of E7TE heads and maybe replacing the stock intake from the Lincoln with one from an Explorer. I'm not looking for major power just a bump up from stock.

I appreciate any help and/or suggestions the greybeards of the forum might see fit to bestow upon me.

 

ford motorsport makes some decent cams for mild 5.0s, i think the B cam is the smallest one. and if you shop around you can usual get them cheaper than other roller cams

 

Either a stock Explorer cam (More low end) or a stock HO cam (Less low end, but one of my favorite cams ever)
