Okay, everybody, how frequently do you drive your dentsides? I am asking, due to knowing that it is as bad on a vehicle to NOT drive it fairly regularly as it is to never take care of it or do preventive maintenance. I'd just like to see what the general "norm" is out there.
I'm of the same mind set, in my opinion a vehicle suffers more "wear and tear" by just sitting than it does if you take it out at least once a week, my truck gets driven almost daily year around, the more nasty the weather the more fun it is to drive.
That's what I was looking to hear..........my main concern has been how often should you drive your trucks to ensure that seals, gaskets, etc. do not dry out, go bad and fail. I'm referring to the truck as a whole, not only the motor, tranny, etc. Every day, every few days, once a week, every two weeks? Which is truly best to ensure these things do not begin to occur?
I start it up every couple weeks. But I don't drive it a whole lot. I have maybe put two hundred miles on it this year. With two young ones in car seats I have to drive the jeep a lot more.

When the truck is sitting, I make sure and take it for a drive every week or two. However, my daily driver blew its radiator and I've been driving the truck daily. It has loved it and has never run better. I think its telling me it doesn't want to go back to sitting around.
when I got Burt 10 years ago he has 72k on him. Now he has 96k, so that's about 2,400 miles per year. Some years much more when taken on trips with the camper or now the trailer, but also some years all I did was start him up and drive him a bit to warm up the seals, etc. Leaks start when you don't drive em'!

I try to drive mine at least once a week with decent weather. Not too crazy about the salt or mag chloride they use on the streets and highways around here for snow and ice.
As a bonus I should be getting a company gas card so I will probably up the ante to at least 3-4 days a week! Woop Woop 9 mpg on a gas card!
Mine has been sitting for awhile. It just got restored nearly frame off. I will be driving it at least once a week when the weather gets nice around here.
Maybe 1 or 2 times a month. But during hunting season it goes about 600 miles a weekend. Then it also did a round trip to MT., about 1500 miles, didn't miss a beat.
Mines a daily driver. I only live about 7 miles from work though. Plus just recently sold my F350 with a V10, (which got about the same mileage as my dent) so I'm used to spending most of my cash on fuel.
I drive mine at least 40 miles every two weeks. Some days I take it work, or just drive it down to the dollar store just to drive it. It was my daily driver for a while a couple of summers ago when my Rodeo blew a headgasket. I love driving it, and I love people telling me they like it nearly everywhere I go in it. I'm sure a lot of us get compliments on our trucks, while we get gas or while getting in or out of them at the store. Dentsides are awesome trucks.
