Flip-down armrest

Yes I have one in my truck, just wondering if anyone knows how they come apart. I want to put a pistol safe inside and want to bolt it in which means I need to access the bottom. Thanks, Bill

You unzip the leather or cloth cover over the arm, struggle mightily to remove it from where the arm bolts to the seat, and then use a very large torx bit with your large ratchet to remove the single bolt.

Be aware that there is a steel stud which will stick out from where the arm lands when it is in the down position, and it is not removable unless you want to cut it off, but then you render the potential use of an armrest completely out of the question.

I removed both my arm rests when I installed my 2008 center console, and I still need to fab up a couple of covers to make it look a little more finished.

Mine's cloth so I didn't have a zipper, but the cover to the armrest slides over the foam. Dig your fingers between the seat and arm rest behind the pivot point and you'll feel a hole in the cover, or maybe a zipper. Unzip or pull the cover back so you can begin to slide the cover off past the swivel point. Then just remove the torx head screw holding it on.

Here's a picture of my seat laying on it's side. Rotate your computer monitor 90 deg to the right and it will be upright. If I slid the cover another 1/2" forward, you would see the torx screw.

Oh like you've never flipped the arm rest up while saying "Too close for missiles, switching to guns"

He's trying to put a safe in the console, but your post did make me think that it would be much easier to just remove the 2 bolts and 2 torx screws holding a seat down and pull one entire seat out of the way than it would be to mess with the arm rests.

Sorry, I don't have armrest's attached to the seats, should have been more clear on this, mine flips up to make a third seat, when it's down it becomes an armrest with a compartment inside. I was looking at it again last nite and I think it is pressed in, no screw holes or anything. I thought of removing it entirely and putting a floor console in but that's too much money. It may interfere with the shifter.
