I went to crank my X after sitting in the garage for about a week. When the engine started (in Park) the engine fired quickly and it felt like the X inched forward a little. I have not noticed this when the X is driven more regularly or when it is warmer. Any ideas?
Thanks,
David
its normal. alot of fords do this, it has something to with how tight the clutch packs are inside the trans. even in neutral there is still enough drag to move the wheels alittle. when you start the engine and the rpms go up for a sec it causing the veh to move untill the parking pawl stops it. alot of veh will move some in neutral if you rev them up enough.
05ExLTD, mine has done that too. I think it's just the way it is. The first time it happened though I was real close to the garage door and I thought I was going thru it! LOL Freaked me out!
My Super Duty does this. I kinka like it It reminds me of a guard dog growling on a chain. Or like a team of horses that dance in the hitch a little just waiting to be let loose. So drop her in drive and let the horses run!
Boys, my bad! I meant something to do with the vanity light on the engine and transmission!
Actually, I meant something to do with the way the engine and transmission are coupled
together. Kinda like something Craigwreck mentioned above, the clutch packs.
By the way, do the clutch packs have a vanity light too?
