Has anybody tried the Bank Power Tuner "Six-GunŽ Tuner and Banks iQ" if so is it worth the money and does it really increase your MPG? Please advise
If your putting this on either the 6.0 or the 6.4 there are far better tuners out there then banks. Both engines seem to like custom tunes better then canned tunes, plus the trannys also respond better to custom versus off the shelf tunes as well.
Also the six gun(atleast in past incarnations) technically doesn't really tune the vehicle. I don't know about the iQ device though. If there stuff is still shift on the fly of some type then that is mutually exclusive to really tuning one's vehicle. Think of our truck's computers as a PC/MAC, every so often after you install a program you have to restart the computer. Same thing here. It's best after you install a program to restart the computer for all the changes to take affect.
As to MPG, all of these devices rather custom or off the shelf are performance enhancers first. If you see MPG improvements great, if not don't be disturbed by that. However, having said that custom tunes give you the better chance of getting a bump in MPG as it's written specifically for your truck and your driving as well.
The choice is ultimately yours, but I wouldn't spend the scratch that Banks costs when there are cheaper and/or better things on the market(Spartan Phalanx is better for 6.4 and has a good reputation for the 6.0, but it's about the same price as some of the Banks setup).
Thanks for the advice, I will look into the Spartan Phalanx. I have a 2010 F-350 6.4L. I had a 2005 F-350 6.0L and had nothing but trouble with tuners, I do not want to go through all the problems I went thought before.
Tex do you still like your Spartan tuner? I think its what I'll buy for my 6.0. I could buy the SCT but I plan to keep my truck a long time & I'd rather have the best tuning.
