a little ot--- PSD-1 my old back-0

well it looks like im going to get a lot of reading time here on the forum.
a few weeks ago i was roraring my truck tires (325-65-18)
i had it all jacked up and the lug nuts off .
i was bent over witch i know is wrong. well when i lifted the tire off the lugs the weight of it pulled me to the ground.
i could not move my legs and i was in a level of pain i have never felt.
i had my cell in the pocket of my welding shirt so i called my dad who was about 15 mikes away. i dont know he got there so fast.
he picked me up and by this time my muscles were contracting and i could not straighten my back up.
so ther i am all bent over and cant walk. my wife took me to the E.R.
for xrays. and no broke bones. they did give me some meds for the pain.
so iv been in bed for 3 weeks now going stir crazy.
i had an MRI yesterday and a consult with a neurosergon and he told me i had 2 disc in my lower back go out and i need surgery.
ill do all that over in houston texas in a week or so.
so i cant wait till next months diesel mags come out(diesel world-8lug-diesel builder- diesel tech ) it gives me something to do with my time.
by the time im well(7 to 8 weeks) ill have all kind of projects for my truck dreamed up.
im already looking at diy oil bypass post and trans filters here .
well im back to searching for things to do when i can.

So that's why my stepdad taught me the indian style elbow leverage trick for tire mounting and dismounting.

That sucks you blew out your back. Here's to a speedy recovery!

Man that sucks, hope ya feel better.

I used to bust tires for a living, believe it or not, a 325/65/18 is a baby compared to some of those monsters we had to muscle around!

Don,
Not to put the scare in you but dont jump right into surgery. I had a bulging disc 4 1/2 years ago and now 4 yes I said 4 surgeries later I am still not fixed. Get a second opinion, if its bulging disc they can dry up and fall off and the pain should subside. Also google DRX 9000. Its a procedure that puts fluid back in your disc's and it can rejuvinate them. I have many years of research and I would definately use surgery as a LAST resort. I wish I had. Found out about the drx 9000 1 month after my 1st surgery. If you would like to chat I would be more than happy to give you a call. Pm me your phone number and when it is a good time to call. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Don -Sorry to hear about your back -Like Tom said above get a couple opinions b4 back surgery - Doctor wanted to operate on my back -L4-L5 almost 9 years ago, and after many months of pain management, I learned to live with it, although each case is different. More than that I learned to lift and use leverage more than anything .Also lots of ibuprophen. Best of Luck & keep us posted.

hay rick (miller feed) that has to be a welding reference name?
i have 2 miller bobcats, a miller wire feed, and i tig weld at work my boss is cool he brought me a miller catelog and told me to pick out what i needed to do the best with. so i got a millermatic 200 amp , it has a foot pedel for heat adjustments, and the pedel turns on the argon so no button on the back of my tig rig to forget to turn on:]
it has high freak so you dont have to touch the tungston to light it, post flow settings, dig settings, pulse settings (dont use this one) and it has high freak for aluminum welding.
i have alot of family over in mermatau (may have spelt that wrong) its around jennings
my mom was a revia and my wife was a geautreaux.
so my kids or ate up with coonass blood.lol

guitarpicr.
about 10 years ago i had surgery on my L5-S1 disc due to a 4 wheeler wreck.
a year later my L4-L5 disc got a bulge and i was told then i would need to fix it one day.
i have lived with pain most days since then and meds most days but i saw my dad go to work no matter how he felt to support my mom, me and my brother.
he set a good path to follow and he has always been my hero.
so me having a wife and 2 boys i just went on working.
i think the tire deal just finished it off.
thanks to all you guys for the good words and prayers

Though it sure would seem like Rick's screen name would indicate some relationship with a welder, he actually owns and operates a feed store in a remote area of Louisiana.

He's a heckuva' good guy, even if he isn't a welder by trade!

Well that certainly sucks. Hope your surgery is as perfect as can be and that you heal fast. The weather should be damn nice by the time you get on your feet.

Take Care and Get Well Soon.
