We got lots of snow the last 2 days. When I went out this evening my windshield was fogged up. It took me about 30 minutes of running the defroster, on hot, with full fan, before it cleared up. Is this normal. Also when I swithed it to the defrost/floor setting the ac symbol lit up on the display. Is this also normal?
It's normal for the AC to run in defrost mode. The AC system helps pull the moisture out of the incoming air. Check for snow along the windshield. I know if I have a lot of snow on the hood and around the bottom of my windshield it can take a lot longer to clear...

Okay, I am going out soon to take the kids sleigh riding and I will clear the windshield of all snow. When I choose defrost it stays on heat but when defrost/floor is choosen the ac comes on.
Ok....I know if you put it to hot by accident in the summer you cook. I also noticed the fan does not come on in Auto till the engine temp comes up a bit to provide hot defrost/heat....no sense blowing cold air, Mike.

JEV is right again...
turn the ac on HOT, direct it on the windshield and it will defrost the fastest ...
on mine (here in North Texus ) it's almost immediate

Im a rookie, but taking forever to warm up is a sign of a failing thermostat, right? It might be worth checking out to prevent an overheat.
