Have to install a new cat on my car (4 cil). Main question is can I use stainless bolts on the exhaust?
Cat converter basically bolts directly to the exhaust manifold. At the other end under the motor the cat converter pipe hooks to the flex pipe. Can I use stainless on both ends?
Also the new aftermarket cat converter is smaller diameter than the stock cat converter so the bracket holding the cat to the motor dose not fit. The only thing holding the cat on is 3 bolts in the head end and a bracket at the flex end.
You can use stainless, but you have to make sure it is the right kind of stainless. You can't just use regular hardware store stainless bolts, you need heat treated bolts made for exhaust.
