Hey Guys, I was wondering what the best solution is for this: I'd like to buy another 1969 F250. I want to find a 4x4 (F26 model), or make one, and drop the height to that of a standard 2x4 F250. I want the thing to have the power distribution of a 4x4, but look like a 2x4. Any suggestions?
I gues you could have some flat springs built for the front and remove the blocks from the rear. You will want to make sure you still have enough play in your driveshaft slipjoints to keep them from binding when you drop it.
There isn't enough room under the oil pan to have any suspension travel, you'll be on the bump stops.
If this is something you really really want, then it might be possible to put your body on an 80s F150 4x4 frame, they used the TTB system that is very similar to the twin I beam system found on the 2wd F100/150s from 65-96. There were a few lighter duty models in the late 80s that were very nearly the same height as the 2wd trucks.
