Turn Signal Help

I've searched around the forums and couldn't find anything quite like my problem..

1979 F250 SuperCab - I just replaced the Turn Signal Cam because one of the legs was broken off of the old one.. Now I have the Right Front Turn Signal and the Left Rear Turn Signal working when you click to the respective side.. The others are not coming on..

Flashers are working fine, all Bulbs are good - and they were all working before I replaced the Cam.. Is it possible I lost connection on one of the Wires from the Cam Switch?? I'm gonna dig back into this tomorrow, but any advice would be appreciated..

Thanks..

Explain exactly what you did to patch in the new wires.

I assume you snipped and soldered.

Turn Signal Help

Snipped and used Connectors.. I should have Soldered I guess.. I made sure the wires went in the correct order, Green to the Inside Post and Blue to the Outside Post.. That's the way they were when I started..

Thanks for the reply...

Turn Signal Help

That cam has "whiskers" that have to be carefully & painstakingly bent & cut to work properly.

Thanks for the replies.. 83Steve was right on with the "Whiskers", I had to cut a good amount of them off so that they would fit inside the connection area.. The connection pins on the Cam were actually riding on the outside of the connection surface.. Also, I didn't realize that without the Cam in place and connected that none of the Rear Lights will work - including Brake Lights - Learn something new everytime..

I really wish that the instructions had said "this part will have to be heavily modified to fit your application"...

Anyhow, I have all signals and lights working and am very happy again...

Thanks for the help..

When I repair these I cut and solder trying to stay away from the terminals far enough so I don't melt the plastic it's attached to.

I splice the wires *under the cam* only stripping 1/8" of wire.

The tough part is keeping the heat shrink from shrinking while heating the wire. That's what the needlenose pliers are for.
