My 89 F350 351w 5 speed seems to have developed a stuttering/stumbling problem at part throttle. It does it worst if youre lugging it a bit, and it goes away if you floor it. I thought it could be bad gas, but ive gone through many tanks since it started and ran injector cleaner through the system. Sometimes it will throw a CEL and it gives the following codes:
KOEO: 29, 33, 41, 63, 87
KOER: 33, 42
I know that some are linked to 02 sensor, but it does it the worst when its cold, which is when the truck is in open loop, so I dont know why the 02 would affect it then. Also, my truck has a VSS code and the speedo does bounce around, but since its not an e40d I havent bothered to change it. the EGR code has also been on since I bought the truck, and it never seemed to run any different. Could it be a vacuum leak? let me know
I'm having a very similar problem with my '87 F-250 with the 460 V8 (which has the Holley 4 barrel carb) - among some of its other quirks, lately it just loses power when I'm cruising along at partial throttle at highway speeds. If I stomp on it -forcing it to downshift - it will recover. It really only happens on hill climbs - but that's a bummer for me since I live on a mountain. I thought it might be time to rebuild the carb - but your truck is fuel injected, right?
