Hi im new to this forum and couldent find anything that fit this description. i just bought a 1999 Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4. got it for cheap, but it has a problem that i just cant figure out. when i accelerate hard it shifts weird, it feels like it up shifts and down shifts real fast, i cant tell. at low speeds i can also hear a clunking noise also i can hear a noise while just sitting idling at random times. i have full access to a NGS scan tool. any recommendation's? I have no engine codes, i do have two ABS codes. C1229 and C1230. so i believe i need a new speed sensor in the back. would that cause these problems?
It sounds like you could have a damaged torque converter or lock-up solenoid. A tranny shop would have the scanner to read what's going on within the tranny. It might be worth it to have them do a scan and road test. In the long run it will be less expensive than guessing.

That might cause the truck to go in and out of 4WD if it thinks the front and rear are traveling at different speeds. When this happens does the 4WD light turn on?

If you have the correct card for that NGS it ought to be able to check for any tranny codes.
i replaced the rear abs sensor and that turned off the light. but im still having the issues. i parked the truck again as i hope to not damage the clutches. now its making noise while in gear at a stop. in reverse,D 2 or 1 the sound does not change. im starting to belive it has somthing to do with the TCC. like was said. the scan tool does have all the options but i do not want to risk driving back to use it. is there any way i can manually disable the solenoid or check the pressure from the outside to see if its stuck open?
