I have a 2000 F250 Superduty for some reason if I let it sit it won't start.Other times it will run fine.
just sometimes it does this. If I put jumper cables on it then it will start every time.
It cranks over until the batteries will die but won't start? Origionally I thought maybe my battery cables were loose so i tightened them. Still problem persists.
I am new to diesels but am mechanically inclined.
Anyone have any ideas or had this problem?
Welcome to FTE. First, you should know we do have a 99 - 03 7.3 diesel section located further down the main forum page. If you're mechanically inclined, do some reading down there and you'll soon understand a lot about these engines.
For your specific problem, how old are the batteries and have you had them load tested? When you crank the engine and it won't start, is there any smoke coming out the tail pipe? If so, what color is it? What are the outside temps when this happens? Only in the morning, or does it do it in the afternoon also? If you plug the truck in for a couple of hours, does it start easier? How many miles on the engine oil, and is it full?
