So yesterday I was sittin at the bank and I backed out, dropped it in drive and it just kinda took its sweet lil time gettin into drive. So I checked it when I got home, which is about 10 miles from the bank. It was about 2 quarts short. I drove it down the road and it seemed fine. Today I dropped my girl off at work and did some runnin around in town and it started doin it again. I checked the level and its fine, it maybe just a hair to full. Any suggestions?
It smells really burnt. The fluid is still red but not as red as it should be. Its now parked at a local King Soopers ( Kroger ) store. It is dead in the water, Andrew is goin to hook up AE to it friday and see if there is any codes pending or anything. It is my DD too. So yeah its hurtin right now lol.

Stick a fork in it. It's done. I have yet to see a trans with burnt fluid where a rehab can be done without a teardown. You can change the fluid and maybe get a few miles out of it if you are lucky. Been there, done that. Of course, it will break down at the worst possible time.
I had some issues with mine as well. I would be at a stop light, hit the throttle and it would just rev. Then it would finally go. To squeeze a little more life out of it you may want to check the feeder bolts. They come loose and need to be retorqued. So far mine has been holding together as I save up for a JW trans.
JW was the one who told me about the feeder bolts. Remove trans pan, valve body, accumulator, solenoid pack. Then take the plate down that holds all the check *****. Re-torque feeder bolts and re-install...
I just had trans problems. Not shifting well into 2'nd and stating to slip. I don't know the exact code it had, but had to do with the diode. They can go bad without just totally failing. Check BTS or John Woods trans shops, remaned you are looking at around 4k. Did not see your sig, modded you want a built trans, mentioned above. Un modded, check with Ford for reman. Cheap route check local reputable trans shop that specializes in these trans. Sorry to here of your troubles. I went with John Woods, closer than BTS, 3k so far and very happy with it. Good luck.
I looked at work and I could get a stock replacment for $1800 trouble is... I broke.. Medical bills blow. Anyways. Any objections to just throwin a rebuilt back in?
When mine was having troubles it was only going into second gear. Hard shift and or slipping. Other than that I really don't know. Someone will have the answer, just be patient.
I didnt try to engage it in second at all. I figured the way it was slipping it would be much better if I just left it be and maybe get a tow somewhere. Im not smart enough to deal with transmissions. Ill try almost anything when it comes to an engine, at least once lol. Maybe Ill check it out tomorrow after I get out of my short stay in the hospital. Maybe..... If not Ill just wait till friday to play with it.
