I just purchased a 2005 Expedition XLT w/ 5k orig miles. It has been sitting most of it's life and what little it was driven was on a dirt road. What maintenance/service should I do at this point? I changed the oil and rotated the tires as soon as I got it and I am pretty sure it was the first time for both.

 

did you run a carfax to confirm the mileage?

 

Check the belts, hoses, fluids. Belts, hoses and tires can dry rot. Fluids should all be fine. I would just be driving it and enjoying it. If you are not mechanically inclined take to a trusted mechanic and have them do a thorough inspection. Probably cost about $50 but it will save you a bunch of time and they know what to look for. And if they are trusted won't tell you they need to replace a bunch of stuff when not needed.

Thanks. I can do almost anything myself. All of that looks good. Are there any Expedition specific items I should be looking into, any quirks??
