Schaeffer's 7000 or 9000?

What would you guys recommend? I’ve been running the 9000 5w-40 for almost 10k miles and about to do a change. I have the stock oil pump and remember I live in Michigan so it is about to start getting cold. If you recommend the 7000, what viscosity, 15w-40 or the 5w-30? Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

Synthetic oil makes for easier starts in cold weather. I have ran both and my oil analysis ' are cleaner when I run 9000 vs. 7000.. however.. I have no problems running the 7000.. just depends on if I have 9000 in my shop.. if not I go to my tire shop and they carry 7000

I'm on my third run on the 9000 product, getting roughly 15+K between cahnges now. Need to send in my last sample for analysis, but I'm sticking with the 9000. If it works as well as I;ve seen down here in the hot south, I believe you should be golden with it up where you are. The 9000 is a little more expensive, but it is also a full synthetic as opposed to a synthetic blend.

I like the idea of 5w for the cold and the 40 for the hot days in the 9000. The only thing I don't like is the shearing of it that some guys are talking about. I think I am just going to stick with the 9000 because I go 10k per change.

If you're running dual HPOPs, worry about shearing. If not, the 9000 is fine, and if it were me up there in MI, I'd be running 9000. My $0.02.
