Just got a great running 86 diesel but it has an ignition problem... first the key will not turn the truck off and come out. second to start the truck you must turn the key to the start position and push the steering wheel up to make it start... any ideas... would this just be the tumbler and the switch or is it the ignition rod.... I am not opposed to a push button for the starter either...

If you have a tilt column, piece #14 usually breaks and causes this problem. The Ford dealer keeps them in stock, and now the parts stores may carry them too.
