I'm not sure I follow you're thought on this?
It seems to me that attempting to go dual alternator would be something more of a challenge compaired to simply having a high output alternator with dual batteries.
The 6.8 kit for the dual battery setup is pretty slick and a fairly easy install.
The Painless dual battery system is also an easy install. I've never done one, but after going over the instructions a few times and compairing other dual battery diagrams I'm sure it's going to be a simple, clean and easy project.
