need some information

Hello Everyone, I purchased a used 2001 escape from one of our local dealers... Prior to that I had an 02 Mustang GT 4.6 liter 5 speed. The Mustang was sweet but decided I needed something a little more practical for the Roads here and on top of that I needed something I could haul a few things in like computer parts ect... I was wondering if some of you could post for me what kind of gas mileage you get. Im pretty aggrivated with mine. Its not any better than my mustang and probably in the city it seems worse. It has a 15 gallon tank on it and is supposed to get 22 miles per gallon in the city.. I know its not gonna get THAT good but I was hoping for at least 19 or 20. 20 mpg would be 300 miles on a full tank of fuel. I am BARELY getting 250. Thats roughly 16 miles per gallon in the City. This is annoying and upsetting to me. This is unnacceptable seeing as how I got the car to cut myself some costs and to be something more practical for my lifestyle. Soo if you would Please post your miles per gallon or how many miles you get on a tank in the city here ... I would be greatly appreciative. Something doesnt seem right when you can watch your gas guage move at a steady noticable pace.

hi and thx for the reply,,,, well I bought myself a cold air induction from mac and put it on and im getting 18 miles per gallon now.... however I noticed the airfilter that was in it looked like it was the very first one that was installed in the truck. It had a really big dirt spot in the center of it. Anyway the cold air induction helped but now im wondering if I made a mistake because the cold air induction is not a true cold air induction... It pulls air from inside the engine compartment. I had to take out the factory cold air and the factory ducting for the cold air. Im kinda wondering if I would have just bought a nice airfilter like a K and N if that would have worked even better. Anyway,, i guess its time to experiment some more but... if you would give me some details id be really appreciative. what kind of engine is in your truck??? Is it windy where you live?? and do you have any modifications done to the engine?? again thanx in advance for the response

2002 approx.8000 mi. v-6 auto 4x4 no performance mods-maybe you should try a tune up @ a reputable shop. that's the first place i would start ,then try some mods to enhance your performance & gas mileage.
